Itinerary

Step into a world of misty mountains, colonial charm, and timeless elegance as you journey to Nuwara Eliya, fondly known as “Little England.” Nestled 1,868 meters above sea level in the central highlands of Sri Lanka, this enchanting town offers a refreshing escape with its cool climate, scenic landscapes, and echoes of British heritage.

The town’s legacy traces back to Sir Samuel Baker, the famous British explorer and founder of Nuwara Eliya. Arriving in the early 1840s, he recognized the region’s cool, temperate climate as ideal for farming and rest. Baker introduced European-style agriculture—growing English vegetables and raising cattle—and laid the foundations for what would become a favored retreat for British planters and governors. His colonial bungalow still stands as a historic landmark in the city, a living tribute to his pioneering vision.

Stroll past Tudor-style hotels, rose-filled gardens, and well-manicured lawns, where every corner of the town reflects the genteel lifestyle of a bygone colonial era. Once a favorite retreat for English and Scottish planters during the tea boom, Nuwara Eliya remains a living tribute to their legacy.

Discover a floral paradise rich with vibrant roses, orchids, and tree ferns. Wander through beautifully curated gardens where playful monkeys and blue magpies often make surprise appearances.
