Day 4 – Nuwara Eliya & Horton Plains

Early in the morning leave from Nuwara Eliya, an optional excursion to Horton Plains National Park can be arranged (usually early morning next day) — a spectacular nature reserve located at the southern tip of Sri Lanka’s Central Highlands. Discovered in the early 19th century and named after Governor Sir Robert Wilmot Horton, this park is famous for its rolling montane plateau, unique flora and fauna, and the awe-inspiring World’s End escarpment, a cliff dropping 900 meters. The park also features beautiful waterfalls like Baker’s Falls and is the source of three major rivers: The Mahaweli, Walave, and Kelani.

Start your day with a visit to a local tea factory in Nuwara Eliya, where you will discover the fascinating process of tea manufacturing—from plucking fresh tea leaves to the final packaging. You’ll even have the chance to experience traditional tea plucking yourself, immersing in the authentic culture of Sri Lanka’s world-famous tea industry.
