Negombo is steeped in history, where the remains of the 17th-century Dutch Fort now house a functioning prison, and the Dutch-era Hamilton Canal still connects the city to Colombo. Day 03 : Sigiriya– The Majestic Rock Fortress & Cultural Wonders

After a relaxing breakfast, check out from your hotel and begin your journey towards the cultural heart of Sri Lanka—Sigiriya.

Along the way, enjoy a memorable stop at the Millennium Elephant Foundation, a sanctuary dedicated to the care of rescued elephants. Here, you can feed and bathe these gentle giants or simply observe them in their serene natural habitat—an experience that’s sure to be a highlight of your honeymoon. In the afternoon, arrive in Sigiriya, where you’ll check in to a charming, village-style luxury hotel—perfect for a romantic and authentic escape into nature.

Later, explore the legendary Sigiriya Rock Fortress, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sri Lanka’s most iconic landmarks. Rising nearly 200 meters from the jungle floor, this ancient citadel was built by King Kashyapa in the 5th century to protect himself from his brother Moggallana, the rightful heir to the throne. The rock fortress is a masterpiece of architecture and ingenuity, featuring advanced water gardens, frescoes of heavenly maidens, and panoramic views from the summit. Though Kashyapa’s story ended in defeat, the remnants of his palace and fortress continue to awe visitors with their grandeur and mystique.
